After 17 innings (the longest game ever played at Turner Field) Mark Teixeira, of the Atlanta Braves, drives in the winning run to beat the Houston Astros 7-6.

Let it rain, let it rain…

Here we are in Brevard, NC- We went for a ride with our good buddies Ken & Linda. We told them we had great rain luck- and it always rains either before we get to our destination, or after we leave. I mean really, we have had wonderful luck where weather is concerned…. Until today!

It was “slightly” wet today! In the past 2 days we have recieved 1.25″ of rain at home! It’s really a happy thing. We are experiencing a drought once again this year. I’ll take as much as we can get.

We are really blessed with beautiful riding roads. Here we are heading south on highway 276 past Caesar Head State Park. This Route is full of switchbacks and sweeping curves.

Laaaazzzyyy Day!

This is exactly how Jan and I both feel today….

lazy day 002
We are both completely wiped out! I think the time spent out in the heat yesterday during our safety course took it all out of us. Neither of us have much energy today! Sometimes it’s good to have a day that you don’t do a single thing other then rest! Today has been that kind of day!

Young or old? What do you see?

I didn’t take any pictures today during our Trike course- I figured the instructor would frown on me hanging half way upside down taking pictures while we are “screaming” through the course practicing swerves, curves, and sudden stops… So I thought I would share a picture I took yesterday during our classroom instruction. It demonstrates how sometimes we may see something- and our brains may interpret it different than others. So lesson learned- you can’t always believe what you see….

Happy 4th of July!!

Just wanted to wish everyone a happy and safe Independence Day!

Biker Bling…

Today was the kick off for Wing Ding 30- Jan and I spent the biggest part of our day taking a Trike Safety Course- today was classroom, and tomorrow morning will be out on the course. We did get a chance to wander around the vendors area a bit, and quickly discovered it would be really easy to spend thousands of dollars on accessories for your motorcycle. I’ve decided if it’s a part that can be put on a GoldWing- you can find it in chrome.

wing ding 73 040You can get “themed” trailers to carry all your “stuff”- (I was starting to think we may need a trailer just to get our purchases home…)

You can even buy a 4-wheeled GoldWing- How awesome is that?

And if you so desired.. you could buy a snazzy sidecar.

While we were there, we met up with our good buddy Ken- he was getting a Tow-Pac installed on his 1990 GoldWing 1500- It’s a kit that adds 2 additional wheels to the back of the bike for stability. It’s really a pretty neat concept.

After we left Wing Ding- we took a little ride through beautiful upstate South Carolina

Isn’t this beautiful… We’re almost to Ken and Linda’s

Tonight was the first time Linda rode on the GoldWing. I think she had a great time. Every time we stopped she had a big smile on her face!

And of course- the post isn’t complete without another picture of Jan and I!

Greenville, SC is the host of Wing Ding 30. It’s the National GWRRA (GoldWing Road Riders Association) Rally and we are expecting up to 20,000 motorcycles over the weekend. Tomorrow is the official kick off- but today was a registration day- and there are already a bunch of riders in town. It was awesome to see so many bikes. We were both shocked at the number of trikes. This is our first Wing Ding and we are both excited. We have a lot planned for the next few days- We’re gonna take a Trike Safety Course tomorrow and Friday- there are also parades and vendors galore.

July 1, 2008

Yesterday Jan and I went for a ride on the trike to Tryon, NC. It was such a beautiful day- cool, not too hot- so we thought it would be a good day to go eat at one of our favorite little pizza places….

7108-012…Side Street Pizza- well, guess what. They are closed on Tuesdays- can you believe that!
So we ended up eating Mexican instead-
While we were there we went for a drive around Lake Lanier. It’s deceivingly large, and beautiful!

produce057On our way home, we stopped off at a little produce stand on the side of Highway 25. We picked up some awesome peaches and necterines! I love the long growing season here in South Carolina. The other day we had fresh local sweet corn- I haven’t had corn that good since my days back in Nebraska!
