Unseasonable…

First off- I want to say I am so glad I no longer live in Nebraska, where they have been slammed with one winter storm after another this year… so I have no room to complain about the cold. However, compared to our normal seasonal temps of around 50 here in South Carolina- we have been experiencing freezing temps for the last month.  Just 2 days ago we had driven past this fountain located on the North Greenville University, and didn’t notice anything wrong- today when we drove past, it was filled with ice. Apparently they forgot to turn the fountain off over night while the temperatures dropped dramatically. Luckily for us, we are in a warming trend and will have temps in the 50’s for the next few days or so.

Arctic Blast…

arctic blastWell, it finally got cold enough here to ice up the lake. The past couple of days we’ve been experiencing an Arctic Blast. I can imagine all my friends and family in Nebraska and Utah laughing hysterically as I say this, but dag, it sure got cold! Weather here in the South is pretty mild in the winter. I think our normal average temp this time of year is in the upper 40’s with lows usually in the upper 20’s, but the last several days we have been down in the teens. There’s even some talk that we may get some snow tomorrow. In the 17 months I’ve lived here, I’ve only seen a dusting of snow 2 times.

Day 21 Road Trip- June 9, 2008
Oh my… is that rain on our windshield? This was our first day with any amount of rain at all. Thanks to our Frogg Toggs we both stayed dry. We even saw a few flakes of snow falling. We decided with the rain and cold, to bypass Seattle this trip- so we didn’t ride the ferry.

Today was without a doubt a gloves day (I actually had on 2 pairs) – I think it turned out to be probably the coldest day so far of our trip- I’m sure Jan would agree with me on this one! Yup! She agrees…. It was cold!! I would love a nice 75 degree sunny day!

Day 21 Road Trip- June 9, 2008

It ended up raining the majority of the day. I didn’t take as many pictures as I would have liked to, but my camera lens kept getting wet.
