Hagood Mill…

02082009 010 Today while we were out for a ride, we came across Hagood Mill, which is located a few mile out of Pickens, SC. The original grist mill was built approx 1825 and was rebuilt (as it’s seen today) in 1845. It continued to operate until 1966. It has since been turned into a museum. Hagood is one of the oldest known surviving gristmills still producing grain products (flour, cornmeal and grits) in South Carolina. It’s powered by diverted water from Hagood Creek, which turns a wheel that is 20 feet in diameter, 4 feet wide and produces 22 horsepower.02082009 015

way I could take a photo of it was to shoot through the slats of the log cabin.
