Fire filled day…

Jan spent the night in Eureka, CA and this morning as she was walking out to her truck to leave she heard sirens, and found that the hotel across the street was on fire. According to the Times-Standard in Eureka, several of the rooms were fully involved in flame and guests had to evacuate into the parking lot. It kind of sounds like the fire started in the laundry facility of the hotel and spread to adjacent rooms and the attic.  From Jan’s location she couldn’t see the actual fire, but got a good dose of smoke!  While Jan was having her fire fun in Eureka I was spending time with our friend Keith(not the redneck) as he was burning some rubbish on a lot he and his wife Kim had recently purchased.

Keith the “Saint”?

Last night I talked to our neighbor- Keith the “Redneck”, about borrowing his BIG leaf blower. We needed to get the leaves up off the ground so our other neighbor- Eric the “Landscaper” could bring his crew over to put down some more seed and see if we could get this yard looking half way decent. Anyway, back to Keith. When we talked to him earlier this morning he said the leaf blower was a bugger to get started so to let him know when I would be coming to get it, and he would help me get it started. Well the next thing we knew- he was out there clearing the backyard! So does that mean we now have to start referring to him as Keith the “Saint”?

Neighbors….

09222008 008-1This is Bonnie- she belongs to our neighbor Keith, “the redneck”. Now before you jump to Keith’s defense (because I called him a redneck)! Keep in mind, he is a self proclaimed redneck- not just a redneck- but a redneck from hell! (his own words, not mine.) Anyway- Bonnie, who is not a redneck, just a good loving dog, has been a good neighbor to us. She only barks when there is really something to bark about. And she is always happy to see us. She comes running over to the fence with her tail wagging ready to greet us each day- perhaps it’s because we give her a bone every time we’re out there… or perhaps she just loves us. Either way, Bonnie is a good neighbor!
